B/X Class: Slime

I had a great time writing the Augur class for the April edition of Carouse, Carouse! Today I’m taking a crack at another B/X class.

Slime

Requirements: Maximum INT 8
Hit Dice: d6
Armor: Plate, shields
XP: As Thief
Saves: As Dwarf
Prime requisite: CON
Max level: 8
Weapons: Any
THAC0: As Thief

You are a sentient slime. You have two eyestalks and tiny earholes. You can manipulate objects by sprouting up to two pseudopods. You have learned to imitate speech by engulfing a waterskin, air bladder, or similar container and molding yourself to approximate lips, a tongue, vocal chords, etc.

Ad Hoc Arthropod

Normally as a slime you have a movement speed of 10 and an armor class of 11 (8 if ascending). However, you can squirm inside a suit or armor or the shell of a roughly human-sized monster. In this case, the shell or armor you occupy determines your armor class, and encumbrance determines your movement speed.

Amphivalent

You can’t swim, but you also can’t drown.

Seep

When not occupying armor or a shell, you can seep under doors, through grates, etc.

Squishy

Reduce damage you receive from piercing weapons by half.

Fission

An 8th level slime may divide itself into two 4th level slimes. Reroll strength, dexterity, constitution, and hit points for each new slime.
