From Rodger With Love
The session began in the secret room beneath the keep on Drumen Knoll. Murals on the walls depicted human victims bleeding into a frosty lake. Ivy, Kitty, and Kungus recalled the rumor they’d uncovered of the secret hall, the chalice, and the words, “fairy ice and mortal blood.” Ivy spread Grognott’s blood upon the ice, which receded completely. Brom clambered into the empty pool and retrieved the chalice, which held a remarkable ever-changing liquid. Marib tasted a drop. She felt the world around her slow. The mushrooms in her hair grew, and the laugh lines on her face deepened. She transferred the remainder of the liquid into an empty waterskin.
Shining a lantern upon the sundial as if cast by the sun at seven-past-noon dispelled the magical barrier on Famine-Whistles-Wither’s cell door. The party freed him, and he became giddy, bowing, offering hugs, and shaking their hands. He expressed uncertainty regarding what he’d do next, except that he wanted to eat. Ivy offered him rations, which he devoured in a ravenous and decidedly uncourtly display.
After parting ways with FWW, the party made the brief journey back to Prigwort without incident. Ivy, Kitty, and Kungus could all hear faint moaning while within the vicinity of the town. The party entered Prigwort from the Horse Eye Road to the east through the Turret Gate, passing the Church of Saint Waylaine on their way into the middle of town.
The party returned Arda to his home and witnessed a tearful reunion. As they enjoyed food and drink with Arda’s parents, Arda’s father offered a theory that House Pilston had been plotting to seize control of the town council and may have been in league with the crookhorns.
The party then made their way to the town square, where a festive market was underway. Kungus split off from the rest of the group to join the revelry, while Brom hired several breggles to translate the note written in Gaffe. To avoid tipping off any spies or causing a panic, he only provided every third word to each translator. The note consisted of instructions to contact Constable Rodger Burl for information on fellow spies within Prigwort’s Ale Guard. In place of a signature was a symbol: a unicorn horn with nine lines radiating outward.
The party presented their findings to Sergeant Marge Breckson, who offered a reward for further information regarding the conspiracy. She informed the group that she needed time before taking action.
The group reunited in the town square with Kungus, whose revelry had drawn the attention of Brewmaster Persimone Ogsbody. The party then made their way to The Clashed Antler, an inn just beyond the city wall to the north. They ordered a round of drinks, and Ivy’s tankard of Glubwob instilled in them a feeling of impishness.
Across the bar, a rowdy gang of youths led by a young man named Austache harassed the inn’s non-human patrons. When the gang began bullying a mossling couple, Ivy intervened, slapping Austache across the face with an oiled hand. They then invoked a glamour to set the oil handprint ablaze…
