First, a huge thank you to everyone who signal boosted The Dododecahedron in 2024! This is a small blog even by OSR standards, and others’ social media posts, blogrolls, and newsletters generate the lion’s share of views.
The Dododecahedron experienced a bit of a sophomore slump with only a couple of noteworthy posts during the first ten months of the year. Motivation and inspiration returned with a vengeance, however, and over the past couple months I’ve dedicated more time to writing than I have since attending an artist residency in 2018. In addition to public blog posts, I’ve been working behind the scenes on a system, a megadungeon, several adventures, and more! I hope to carry this momentum forward into 2025. I have many—certainly too many—projects in various stages of development. This year I will hold myself accountable to see at least a couple through to completion.
2024
One year ago, I set the following intentions for 2024:
- Publish an adventure.
- Publish twenty blog posts.
- Run more games.
This post is my twentieth of the year, so I managed that one, at least! Sure, I published eight of them this month, but I’ll take a win where I can get it. I did not publish an adventure, but one’s midway through layout. I did not run as many games as I’d have liked, though I did play regularly.
2025
Here’s what I’ve got cooking for next year:
- More blog posts! I’m committed to publishing more posts next year than in 2024.
- These will include discussions on the design process for Project Turnstone, an untitled board game I’m co-designing with my girlfriend.
- I will begin running Castle Kelpsprot, a HUDless science fantasy world-game megadungeon no later than October. (Sometimes you’ve gotta put your prep on a deadline). Expect posts about prepping/refereeing that game.
- Maybe a free adventure if I muster the will to finish layout.
- A secret project that I will announce in February or March if it comes to fruition.
That’s all for this year. Thanks for reading!
